The Oasis in the London Desert "

After completing my florals project, I began to look for inspiration for my next one and came across a book in OXFAM titled " The Royal Gardeners".  I found it interesting to see how much care and attention went into creating the look and feel of the Garden, even when in the middle of London (Buckingham Palace) surrounded by buildings.  And it inspired me to look more into the different types of Garden Structures we see and that people create in order to achieve perfection, in order to achieve their own personal oasis.  Therefore this concept will be the basis of my next collection of fabrics.  

The above image is scanned from the book "The Royal Gardeners" which I am now using as a sketchbook. Not only did it provide my theme, but also my colour palette as can be seen from the scrap piece of knitting.

These images are my initial work on this project, I'm currently focusing on the ariel views of formal gardens in order to see the symmetry and pattern involved.
