Knitted Kindle Cover
After treating myself to a kindle, I decided to make a knitted cover for it over the Easter Holidays. Not finding one I particularly liked I made up my own :) and then had to make one for my friend too!
After treating myself to a kindle, I decided to make a knitted cover for it over the Easter Holidays. Not finding one I particularly liked I made up my own :) and then had to make one for my friend too!
The pattern is sized for the 5way controller kindle, however it would be extraordinarily easy for someone to add rows to make it long enough for the full keyboard kindle.
For mine ( the grey and orange ) I used Louisa Harding's Thistle yarn for the grey ( which can be bought at laughinghens.com: http://www.laughinghens.com/knitting-wool-yarn.asp?yarnid=1333)
And Debbie Bliss's Fez yarn for the orange (which can also be bought as laughinghens.com: http://www.laughinghens.com/knitting-wool-yarn.asp?yarnid=1280)
My friends (the blue/multicoloured) also used Louisa Harding's thistle for the blue and the multicoloured yarn is a bamboo from my local market.
Both were done on Straight 5mm (UK size) needles
1. C/O 30 Stitches
2. Do 10 rows of Rib (*K1, P1* Repeat until end)
3. Row 11: Knit
Row 12: Purl
Repeat twice more (6 rows stocking stitch)
4. Work the 12 rows of fairisle
5. 28 Rows of Stocking Stitch
6. 12 rows of fairisle (worked from top to bottom so when it is folded in half it sitd the correct way round)
7. 6 rows of stocking stitch
8. 10 rows of rib
9. Cast off
10. Fold in half and stitch up the sides, I plan to add a tie or button at the top of mine to help keep the kindle in.
